It started in 1972, a group of surfers from the supeIDRower country, United States, conducted an expedition to go to Plengkung. After a long way, they finally arrived in Plengkung and started exploring the charm of Plengkung waves. Until now, Plengkung still becomes the dream of surfers from around the world.

Plengkung beach presents various types of waves that can be explored not only for professional surfer, but also friendly for newbie surfer or beginner. It is because Plengkung beach has two types of waves that can be an option of the surfer. For the thrill-seeking surfer that loves to conquer the waves then Plengkung is a destination that should be visited. Newbie surfer or beginner is suggested to try the waves with height of only 3-4 meters which commonly called as many tracks, and for those who are reliable in playing the surfboard, you have to try the Kong type whose height up to 8 meters.  Also, there are some other nicknames for the waves in G-Land. Those are G as Grajagan, the name of a village with a bay that has big waves, G as Green represents a natural beach that is surrounded by green tropical forest, and G as Great depicts the big long waves.

Plengkung beach is located in coastal area of Alas Purwo National Park. There are 3 ways to get to Plengkung, as follows:

1.       Sea route: to get to Plengkung, it can be reached by Boat that can be rented from Bali.

2.       Land-water route: from Banyuwangi to Benculuk is approximately 35 Kilometers by bus or other public transport, from Benculuk to Grajagan is about 19 Kilometers, and also can be reached by public transport, then from Grajagan to Plengkung can be followed by Boat that are available in Grajagan coast.

3.      Overland: From Banyuwangi to Kalipahit is about 60 Kilometers and can be reached by Bus or other public transport.  from Kalipahit to Pasar Anyar is about 3 Kilometers by ojek or rent car. From Pasar Anyar to Trianggulasi Beach then followed by Pancur Beach is approximately 15 Kilometers. After that, from Pancur to Pantai Plengkung with 9 Kilometers distance by driving special car.

      By Air: Banyuwangi can be reach by using air trasnportation, you ride from Bali or Surabaya. 

It may seem hard to get to this beach. But trust me! The exhaustion and fatigue during the trip will be paid in full when you arrive in Plengkung.
